How to set up Dial-up networking to automatically dial and disconnect

For Internet Explorer 5.0 and higher on Windows 95/98/2000 Pro/XP:

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Internet Options
  2. Click on the Connections tab

  3. If you already have a Dial up connection created go to step 5
  4. Click on the Add button and follow the instructions to create a new dial-up networking connection
  5. To have Windows automatically dial your selected dial-up connection, choose either the "Dial whenever a network connection is not present" or "Always dial my default connection" radio button.
  6. Click on the Settings button.  The Dial-up Connection Settings dialog box will appear:

  7. Ensure all of the settings are correct and click on the Advanced tab.  The Advanced Dial-up dialog box will appear:

  8. Check the appropriate checkboxes for how you would like to automatically disconnect.

When any application that uses the Internet is started, the auto-dialer will automatically start.
